The day that Jane and Elizabeth Bennet wed Charles Bingley and Fitzwilliam Darcy marks the departure point for Pemberley Manor. While Mr. and Mrs. Bingley might be expected to get on famously, Mr. and Mrs. Darcy will surely need to work on their communication skills. What forces in Darcy's past gave such a good man so difficult a public demeanor? Will Elizabeth's cheerful optimism win the day after the honeymoon is over? |

"What a sumptuous book! I loved Ms Nelson's story of what happened to Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam after their marriage. The writing is witty and the seemingly effortless plot kept me guessing till the end. The characters we know so well are completely recognisable and believable; the new ones just as entertaining. A real tribute to Jane Austen, a sequel to re-read and treasure, a lovely big read, I laughed and cried — a tale which will stay with me for a long time."

Why, oh why, am I always coming back to my website with a lament about time flying…?
Amazing changes are happening in our climate and in my life. Spring in Minnesota reminds us that there is life after death. This year, my annuals survived the winter under a pile of snow and started blooming in April. And my mother left us in early February, leaving behind an iceberg in my heart that is just beginning to crack apart.
I was smack in the middle of a first draft of a second novel, and now I'll have to look for a new first editor, one who, like my mother, doesn't criticize my work. She was always so genuinely delighted that I could both write creatively and spell correctly at the same time.
Well, life is about getting on with it, and it's time for me to tuck away the difficulties of the last few months and celebrate the gifts she gave me. I hope that her wit and warmth infuse my writing with a genuine love for all things human. She was curious, intelligent, and adventurous, but what she was not is perhaps the most important for my future: judgmental. She accepted people with all of their flaws, and I will redouble my efforts in everything I write, to celebrate humans, weak and strong.
